Abide by the Truth- IAUE VC Tells Students

Students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education have been advised to abide by the truth always to depict the essence of an Ivory tower which is to propagate the truth.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution gave the advice at the 2012/2013 matriculation ceremony while reacting to the incident that happened on Wednesday 3rd April 2013 that led to the death of Charles Ohamara, a two hundred level student of the French Department. 

She observed that the late student would have been alive today but for the false alarm raised by a yet to be identified student.

Prof. Rosemund Dienye Green-Osahogulu who warned the students against raising false alarm stated that such would no longer be tolerated.

She urged students not to be frightened by any alarm but to be calm, first ascertain the cause of any such happening instead of taking to their heels to forestall impending danger.

She remarked that preventive measures are being put in place through installation of burglary proof and urged the students to pay all approved fees, desist from being members of a secret cult, resist willful damage to university property, violent demonstration, riots, examination malpractice, disrespect for constituted university authority and cooking in the hostels. Stiff penalty she emphasized awaits defaulters. 

The Vice Chancellor wished them successful completion of their programmes and gainful self or paid employment thereafter. A minute silence was observed in honour of the late Charles Ohamara.
