IAUE 2012/2013 MATRICULATION CEREMONY HOLDS WITH A CHARGE ON STUDENTS TO GINGER ADMINISTRATION…….
The Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Professor Rosemund Dienye Green-Osahogulu has charged students to ginger administrators, faculty and support service workers into rising up to the global challenges of technical innovation, responsible social value orientation and edifying virtual networking. She gave the charge on Thursday April 4th 2013, during the 2012/2013 Matriculation Ceremony at the University Auditorium, the fourth matriculation since the change in the status of the institution from a College to a University.
This role she noted the students can effectively play through strong personal commitment to learning and instructional participation and research activity. According to the Vice Chancellor, Higher Education has gone technologically innovative, socially responsible and global and so the institution must as a twenty first century University of Education reflect adoption and integration of appropriate Information and Communications Technology and other twenty first century technologies in institution, research and revenue yielding consulting.
Professor Rosemund Dienye Green-Osahogulu who welcomed all to the university established for the pre-service education and continual in service training and retraining of graduate educators for the country and by extension for contemporary unified and globalised world, pointed out that at present, the university has six academic faculties and twenty nine teaching subject departments.
She remarked that in implementing its academic programme curricula, the university places balanced emphasis on the pertinent subject theory, teaching professional practice, academic, development research, innovative community educational service, and knowledge based consultancy investment services.
The vision of IAUE she maintained, positions it as the ultimate global best among all institutions established for pre-service professional teacher education and continual in-service training and retraining of graduate teachers.
Its corresponding mission she stressed is then to prepare and graduate the best professional educators (i.e. teachers, managers, administrators, researchers, evaluators, counselors and consultants etc) for the education sector.
Its institutional goals, she continued are to undertake autonomous management/administration of its resources for perpetual corporate organizational survival and functional excellence, to deliver, evaluate and innovate instruction for the graduation of quality educators, to conduct and publish significant and national development driven education sector research, to render development driven community education services and to undertake revenue generating knowledge-based consultancy service projects.
A total of one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven students were admitted in the 2012/2013 academic session. One thousand, five hundred and eighteen were admitted into the full time programmes while two hundred and fifty nine students were admitted into the sandwich programme of the university.
